THIS IS THE END, BEAUTIFUL FRIEND THIS IS THE END ...

Balloons
Dear you all,
Now that holidays have begun, me -i.e. this blog, has to say goodbye to you. I hope you will come and read part of me from time to time. Pleaaaaaaaase!
I understand you have all new friends now in the partner schools of the project and they are funnier than I am.
And you need holidays after working hard at school.
But as sitcom Friends' song read: "I'll be there for you!"
Or as Bruno Mars sings, 'You can count on me like 1, 2, 3!'
Or as Queen sang 'Friends Will Be Friends' .
Or as Carole King's song read 'You've got a Friend'.
Or as the Beatles sang 'With a Little Help from my Friends'.
Or 'Thank you for Being a Friend'. Gosh! I can't remember who sang that one!
Or 'Why Can't We Be Friends, Why Can't We Be Friends?'
Or 'Amigos para siempre, you will always be my friend',
Or 'You're My Best Friend' by Queen,
Or '...I'll Be Your Friend, Your Other Brother', said Jason Mraz,
Or 'Just Friends',sang Amy Winehouse,
Or '...you are not alone, I'm here with you', said Michael Jackson,
Or 'Everything I do, I do it for you', by Bryan Adams,
Or Randy Newman?s 'You've Got a Friend in Me'
Or the Corrs' 'At Your Side?...

EUROPE DAY AND VIDEO CONFERENCE

Comenius Week was celebrated in many schools from the 2nd to the 9th of May with different activities. Other schools celebrated Europe Day so it is clear last week was one to remember. We are all  rowing together shoulder to shoulder on board this great boat that Europe is and this deserves a special recognition and celebration.
At IES Campanar, Valencia (Spain) we concentrated the activities on the 5th of May. We had a Powerpoint presentation -on the Comenius project we have in common, from 9 to 12 non-stop in the hall for everybody to watch. And we also held the video conference with Ajka (Hungary) and Lipník nad Bečvou  (Czech Republic). The sound was not very good but when it failed messages were a good remedy.
The students have been in touch with their peers in the other partner schools since the beginning of the project but we always find a video conference most motivating. Now that the end of our project is around the corner and before a likely new one, we could be all in eTwinning!
Anyway, this is a photo of two of the students using one of the laptops we had prepared for the video conference.

SPECIAL MATHS PUZZLE (APRIL 2011)

Easy: U   Look  4  Exercise Result

2007 marked the three hundredth anniversary of great mathematician Leonhard Euler’s birth. The sum of the digits of the year in which he died is 19 and the last two digits make a prime number. We know that he lived more than 40 years so, CAN YOU FIGURE OUT WHICH YEAR HE ACTUALLY DIED? Reason your answer, please.
Remember to send your answers to  matecampanar@gmail.com

SOLUTION
2007 - 300 = 1707
1707 + 40 = 1747
If the sum of the digits is 19 and we already have 17xx, we need 11 in the last two digits. The only possibility, being the last two digits a prime number, is thus 1783.
The reader has flown to Mykha Semenov. Congratulations!

A CLOSE-KNIT FAMILY OF... 60 IN CAMPANAR !!!

It's true that seeing our Comenius Project  drawing to a close, made some of us feel a bit sad but we lived the meeting in Valencia intensely, sharing this life experience like a close-knit family of 60!!
Students and teachers from Lipník nad Bečvou, Ajka, Lüneburg, and Geneva spent last week with us, the IES Campanar, and like a large family,we worked together and also went sightseeing  and had fun together.
We would first like to thank our guests (headmasters, teachers and students) for coming from such distant places in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany and Switzerland.
The Comenius team in Campanar, València, is also most appreciative of the support of the host families, and of the school headmaster and colleagues.
Five different European countries speaking with only one voice may be an indication of today's and tomorrow's joint Europe sharing a common bond in even closer cooperation.
That's why we have already planned the next "family reunion" in May to celebrate Europe's Day with a video conference!!

"NACÍ EN EL MEDITERRÁNEO...."

The students and teachers at all partner schools in the project are probably catching up with the backlog after 5 days away. There will be photos and a lot more in the days to come but the students in Valencia would like to send a message to their already-departed visitors: WISH YOU WERE HERE! Here they are. It looks as if they were singing Spanish songwriter Serrat's song Mediterráneo: "I was born on the Mediterranean..".
As for us the teachers, we also miss you all  (teachers and students). Thanks a lot for coming to our school. More news in a couple of days' OK? Thanks!
