In an old chronicle of the Italian University of Parma, you can read the following text:
“Two years ago the number of students enrolled at this University was a perfect square. Last year, this number grew in 100 units, obtaining a perfect square by adding just one unit. This year we have one hundred students more (100 units) and we have again a number of students which is a perfect square!”.
